Community Involvement

to the community in which we live. Many members are
involved with other charities but here is an example of some
HDP group participation in the local community:

Walk MS 2008
Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with MS. Some
HDP members have, or have had, very close contact with people
with MS. That's why several HDP members have registered for
the MS Walk with the The Walk Masters team. This team was
created to participate in Walk MS 2008 which, for the first
time, will be in Bend, OR on April 12th.

Darkness to Light
In February several HDP members underwent Darkness to Light Child
Sexual Abuse Prevention Training. Darkness to Light's mission
is to
to diminish the incidence and impact of child sexual abuse, so
that more children will grow up healthy and whole. Their programs raise awareness of the prevalence and
consequences of child sexual abuse by educating adults about
the steps they can take to prevent, recognize and react
responsibly to the reality of child sexual abuse. Even the
members who don't have children could see the benefit of this
training to bring a once taboo subject out into the open in
a effort to protect the children. For more information visit
their web site:

Full Circle Outreach
In January we had a drive for paper goods for Full
Circle Outreach. Their mission is to simply reach out to
those that may be struggling in life for one reason or
another and to serve one life at a time while helping guide
them in a more positive and successful direction. Read more
